Rev. Fr. Peter Collin C. Crisostomo, of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of San Isidro Labrador, Family Rosary Crusade’s Day 2 mass presider reminded the faithful to look out for our neighbors, who are trying to deepen their faith, and what we can give in to encourage more people towards Christ.
“Temptation is everywhere, in public places, our homes, and even the Church.” Fr. Crisostomo said.
There are lots of temptations around, from the places people visit to the spaces they consider safe.
It tests people’s resolve not only in the outside world but even in their personal sanctuaries. The devil despises efforts to become holy and worthy of entrance to the Kingdom of God. Therefore, he lurks where the faithful praise the Lord and preach His words.
Oftentimes, people fall for the tricks of temptation, and before they know it—they already have fallen into the ocean of deep sin. Even in the simplest of actions, most regular of days, and the brightest mornings, temptation lurks and waits for anyone to take the bait.
Staying vigilant and grounded in our values is essential to resist its pull, regardless of where it manifests.
He ended his homily with a warning for those “marites, marisol, and tolits” people, with the eighth commandment; thou shall not bear false witness against your neighbor”.
“Do not accuse or lie about your neighbor”, the priest said.
The Dominican faithful are asked not to push their neighbors into sinfulness and temptation.
“Stop spreading fake news, but let us spread about Jesus, who is the way, the truth, and the light”, he added.
Truly, temptation prevails in the society, but the decision and the power are in every person already.
The values of Jesus have taught the faithful to resist and to know what is right towards holiness.
